1...slip the reed lifter under the outer reed and push it back out of the way. I use a narrow lifter (feeler guage) for this.
2...insert the hook/maneuver the point down and twist it a bit over and under the inside reed and lift it up towards you and at the same time slide the reed lifter over to hold the valve up so you can work on it. Getting the hook back out can be tricky on smaller reeds so you need to be careful and not mar the inside edges of the aluminum reed plate. You should have at least 2 hooks, one with a 1/4" wide hook and one about 1/2" wide
It`s an awkward process but after some practice you will begin to get the hang of it.
