TOPIC: Giulietti Chromatic - Tone Generator?

Giulietti Chromatic - Tone Generator? 4 months, 3 weeks ago #5694

I am putting some pics up, please follow the links below. If anyone has any idea what this tone generator or midi is and how to make it work I would appreciate your input.

I was wondering if there is no way to make this work would it be worth pulling it all out and modifying the grille in some way to make it a normal accordion?

You need a tone generator to play the electronics part of it.
This Giulietti was made in the ZeroSette factory in Italy along side the Petosa brand accordion.
I`ve seen and played the ZeroSette version which is essentially the same accordion and electronics.
These are rather heavy instruments but they are professional quality with 3 sets of hand finished reeds that project sound as good as any 4 reed accordion. The LMM makes for a very nice musette.
I`ve been told by those who have done it that stripping the electronics does not significantly reduce the weight. You would also end up with the typical bastardized appearance with large openings that are never gonna look original no matter what you fill them in with.
I`d keep it original and play it thru a good amp.

Geo has a good point, but if it was my box, the electronics would drive me
crazy. If you know anyone with a metal shop, you could probably make a new grille
out of aluminum flashing and glue celluloid to it. The grille on my 58 Excelsior
is made out of aluminum and coated with celluloid. Good luck, Steve

I talked to Joe Petosa (via email) and he sent this picture:

www.mattprouty.com/grille.JPG

It's got the same layout of switches as mine and has this nice grille covering up where the buttons were.

This accordion is well worth putting a little work into as it has some fine reeds in it and sounds wonderful.

I love the Tremelo/Violin/Imitation musette sound this accordion has.

I will post some pics if I decide to go this route once its finished.

Here is before:

Here she is finished! I replaced many of the buttons as the C and F's were scored horribly by someone in the past. You could feel the scores with gloves on.

Joe Fixed me up.
